The Buddha Nut comes from the Pterygota alata tree, which can grow up to 45 metres high and is very impressive with a crown width of up to 8 metres. Pterygota alata comes from India, Myanmar and northern Malaysia. The Buddha fruit pods are round and split on one side. They produce many winged seeds that are scattered by the wind.
The nut is untreated and can be placed in any terrarium. It not only enhances the terrarium, it also offers protection for the animals. The Buddha Nut is also ideal as a water reservoir, as water collects in the shell after each spraying.
