Brazil nut shell

The shell of the Brazil nut is not chemically treated and is suitable as a food dish or hiding place. The Brazil nut seeds that are originally in the shell are only released after the shell has decomposed. Only the aguti is able to crack the shell with its teeth to get at the delicious and rich seeds. The Brazilian natives open the capsules mechanically with a saw. The shell is very woody and can also be used as a plant bowl for flowers and small cacti.
