Atopochetus dollfusi is a species originating from Thailand and Vietnam, growing up to 110 mm. They impress mainly with their beautiful coloration. The species is considered difficult to keep and not suitable for beginners. Breeding Tonkinbolus dollfusi is quite difficult. The animals are offered under many different names such as silver red stripe centipede or blue red Vietnam centipede. In nature the animals live near the ground mainly in forests, but they can also be found on plantations. If kept well, they can reach an age of up to 5 years.
The floor space for a terrarium for Atopochetus dollfusi should not be less than 40 mm x 30 mm. The substrate should be strewn at least 10 cm high, better more.
Temperatures around 23-25°C have proven to be good for this species, as well as a humidity of permanently over 75%. The animals are, like almost all millipede species, mainly crepuscular and nocturnal. Therefore additional lighting is not necessary. Heat should always be introduced into the terrarium from above. To keep the humidity in the substrate, you can cover it with a bark, mosses or leaves. Atopochetus dollfusi, unlike most other species, is rarely seen on the surface and stays mainly in the substrate. Shelters in the form of pieces of bark, small caves, etc. are readily accepted. Cucumbers, apples, fish food and much more can be offered as food, but the main food source for this species is the substrate.
