Short description:
Zootrophion hirtzii is found in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. It grows there epiphytically (perching plant) in humid montane forests or cloud forests at altitudes from 1500 to 1900 meters. Therefore, the approximately 5 cm high mini orchid is perfect as a perching plant. The climbing mini orchid is ideal for growing over logs and stones.
Zootrophion hirtzii can cope with 10-15000 Kelvin. At 20-30 °C the plant thrives well and is therefore also suitable for warmer terrariums. It should be sprayed with rainwater at least twice a day. Zootrophion hirtzii can be divided and propagated on the tendrils.
