Trachelipus caucasius

Trachelipus caucasius has a grey base colour. The segment plates end with pale yellow tips. The species originating from Sochi is also suitable for beginners. The climate there is subtropical with long, hot summers, a warm autumn and short, mild winters. Therefore, the species can tolerate temperatures down to 5 °C for short periods, but you should not keep them too cool just because they originate from Russia.

We keep Trachelipus caucasius like Armadillidium species from the Mediterranean (Armadillidium klugii or Amradillidium maculatum). The species reproduces relatively well and does not pose any major problems.

The behaviour of the animals is relatively calm and relaxed and is well suited for observation.
