Short description Blaptica dubia “Dubia Roach”:
Blaptica dubia “Dubia Roach” is a large cockroach, up to 4.5 cm long. It is often kept as a pet. More importantly, this species serves as a food source for many reptiles, spiders and amphibians. Compared to other food sources such as crickets, it contains a higher percentage of protein, is easier to breed and produces little odour. Therefore, they are becoming increasingly popular among amphibian and reptile enthusiasts. Moreover, this cockroach does not reproduce in the home.

Breeding is very simple and can be easily achieved with a container with a lid and ventilation, egg cartons, protein feed and a drinker. Blaptica dubia “Dubia Roach” reproduce quickly. The approx. 30 eggs are carried in the womb until hatching and are born alive. The nymphs are about 5 mm in size and thus one has a wide range of sizes to feed them. Depending on the temperature, the nymphs become sexually mature after 2-6 months.
