Porcellio bolivari

Porcellio bolivari

Origin:

Spain

Temperature:

22-25 °C

Size:

up to 3,0 cm

Social behaviour:

Comparable with other spanish porcellio-kinds such as Porcellio haasi, Porcellio magnificus or Porcellio expansus. But the bolivari bolivari’s are slightly more insensitive.

Breeding:

Breeding is really uncomplicated, the development time is about 9 months which is the average. But the amount of offsprings is slightly more than with other porcellio-kinds.

Special Features:

Porcellio bolivari like to eat rotten leaves. carrots, fish food and cuttlebone. Really important and not to miss are pieces of cork and bark in different areas of the box. An extra heating is not necessary and not to recommend. Much more important is enough air conditioning.

Tipp: I keep the tank relatively dry with only one damp corner. I put moss in the corner and mix it with the soil in the box. On top of that I put a piece of dead wood. The moss will absorb the water and will slowly spread it throughout the box. Therefore it is enough if I spray water in there once or twice a week.
