Cubaris spec. “Hong Tiger” – exotic stripe pattern with character
Cubaris spec. “Hong Tiger” is a species of isopod that immediately catches the eye with its striking appearance. The dark-colored carapace is adorned with contrasting, bright stripes reminiscent of the pattern of a tiger – hence the striking name. It provides an exciting color accent, especially in terrariums furnished in a naturalistic style, which is of interest to both beginners and experienced assell lovers.
In addition to its attractive appearance, the “Hong Tiger” also scores points for its important role as soil police. It decomposes dead leaves, wood debris and leftover food, actively contributing to the cleanliness and ecological balance of the terrarium. In bioactive setups, it is therefore not only a decoration, but also an indispensable helper.
Preferred posture Cubaris spec. “Hong Tiger” a substrate consisting of leaf humus, white rotten wood and pieces of cork, which is rich in nutrients and at the same time offers plenty of hiding places. Areas of moss serve as a moisture reservoir and retreat, which is why these should not be missing in any tank. The species feels comfortable at temperatures between 22 and 26 °C and requires a consistently high level of humidity, coupled with good ventilation to prevent waterlogging and mold growth. A humidity gradient – i.e. an area with higher and one with lower humidity – allows the animals to find their own preferred zone.
The “Hong Tiger” is mainly nocturnal, but can also be observed foraging during the day in a quiet environment.
Whether as an eye-catcher or a useful cleaning crew – Cubaris spec. “Hong Tiger” is an exciting choice for any naturalistic terrarium and offers a real highlight with its unique pattern.
