Brief description Archimandrita tesselata “Pepper cockroach”:

Peppered cockroaches are impressive animals, and not just because of their size. In case of danger, they emit a defensive secretion that smells of pepper, which justifies their name. Adult animals live for a further 2 years after moulting, which is a rarity for cockroaches.

The substrate plays a decisive role in this species. The nymphs bury themselves in it until they reach maturity and feed mainly on white rotten wood and leaves. The breeding of Archimandrita tesselata “pepper cockroach” is uncomplicated. However, they take a relatively long time to develop and are therefore only suitable as food animals to a limited extent.

You can offer the animals fruit and vegetables once a week. It is best to simply place the food on the substrate. This gives the nymphs the opportunity to help themselves to it. The substrate should never dry out completely. It is therefore best to spray the substrate thoroughly every week. A humidity of 60 % is sufficient for this species.
