Java moss

Java moss(Taxiphyllum barbieri), which is well-known in the aquarium hobby, originally comes from South East Asia. There it grows mainly on riverbanks both inside and outside the water. Due to this growth characteristic, Java moss is also suitable for our terrariums.

Java moss has relatively low light requirements, but the more light it gets, the more lush it grows. There are various ways to incorporate Java moss into the terrarium. For example, it can be attached to roots or stones using a nylon cord. From there, it covers the object with a dense carpet, giving the terrarium its natural character. You can simply lay out a piece on the substrate, which will then grow into a dense lawn with a little patience. Java moss forms the basis for natural greenery and creates important microclimate zones that are popular for moulting.
