Originating from Madagascar, the plant grows mostly terrestrially, but also epiphytically on trees, often together with lichens, at altitudes of 1500-2000 m. It is a very pretty, small orchid species with bright yellow inflorescences with a red lip. This species is also often very variable in coloration, and pure yellow, orange or red-flowered offspring are also very likely.
