Exo Terra Aztec Frog Water Bowl
In stock
The Exo Terra Aztec Frog Water Bowl fits in with the Mesoamerican Aztec theme. Frogs, toads and amphibians generally symbolized earth and rain and were associated with Tlaloc, the god of water, fertility and agriculture. Clean and fresh water is essential for the proper care of your terrarium animals. The shape of the Exo Terra Aztec Frog Water Bowl prevents the bowl from being knocked over and spilling water.
We think the decorative water bowl fits very well in a tropical terrarium with lots of plants. It gives the viewer a South American rainforest “look” and therefore fits in wonderfully with this theme.
Tlaltecuhtli is described as both a female and a male creature. It possessed attributes of both a toad and an alligator. Depictions of the deity were mainly found in the post-classical period of Central American history. Tlaltecuhtli is also known from post-Columbian manuscripts. The deity is sometimes associated with Cihuacoatl, Tonantzin and Tonatiuh. In the Tonalamatl of the Codex Borbonicus, Tlaltecuhtli is assigned the second hour of the day. There are also significant parallels with Mayan creation mythology, as described in the Relación de las cosas de Yucatán by Diego de Landas.
