Insektenliebe Sphagnum moss- moisture reservoir with antibacterial effect – completely without chemicals

Are you looking for a versatile natural product that reliably retains moisture, has an antibacterial effect and gives your terrarium an authentic, woodland look? Then Insektenliebe Sphagnum moss is just the thing for you. We press finely selected, sun-dried sphagnum into handy bricks – either 100 g, 200 g or 500 g – so that you can store it in a space-saving way and portion it as required. Sphagnum – also known as peat moss – is very popular with terrarium keepers because it binds many times its own weight in water. This creates a constantly moist microclimate that prevents moulting problems and at the same time provides optimum support for plants, Isopods, millipedes, amphibians and moisture-loving reptiles.

The application is very simple: place the brick in a bucket, pour lukewarm water over it and wait a few minutes. The Insektenliebe Sphagnum moss swells, takes on its feather-light structure and shows the typical light green to olive tint. A 100 g tile will provide you with around six liters of ready-to-use moss; 200 g will give you around twelve liters and 500 g will give you an impressive thirty liters. The finished Sphagnum can be applied as a surface covering layer, worked into damp back walls or used as a selective “damp zone” – for example in wet boxes for moulting or for laying eggs. Its natural, slightly acidic environment inhibits fungi and bacteria, reduces odors and helps to keep substrate areas hygienic without having to resort to chemical additives.

Particularly practical: you can moisten the sphagnum as often as you like and let it dry again. Once it is soiled, you can simply dispose of it in the compost or mix it into garden beds as a soil conditioner. This means you are using a renewable, fully biodegradable material – sustainable and animal-friendly at the same time. Just make sure to squeeze out the moss well after swelling before placing it in the terrarium. This prevents waterlogging and gives your pets the option of choosing between more humid and slightly drier areas.

Whether you need a high level of humidity for your tropical and rainforest inhabitants or want to create selective wet rooms in a semi-humid setup: Insektenliebe Sphagnum Moss offers you maximum flexibility with minimum effort. Get the 100 g test brick now, stock up on 200 g for your paludarium or get the 500 g supply pack for large projects – your terrarium, your plants and your animals will love the natural freshness boost!
