Brief description Subulina octona:
The nano-suitable Subulina octona reaches a maximum housing length of 2 cm. It is therefore ideal as an addition to a tropical terrarium. We keep them in various Cubaris terrariums and are always amazed at how much fun we have observing this small snail species. They love to decompose leaves and other dead material. When planting in the terrarium, it depends on whether they like it or not, true to the motto “trial and error makes perfect”, you should test the respective plant. We also feed banana and Chinese cabbage, which are very well accepted.
Subulina octona lays pinhead-sized eggs and is also very easy to breed. As with most snail species, this species is also a hermaphrodite. Under laboratory conditions, parthenogenesis (the production of young) has even been observed, although we have never tested this ourselves. In German, the small awl snail is also known as the Brazilian trumpet snail or unicorn.
