Cubaris spec. “White Ducky” – The elegant, snow-white beauty among Isopods
Cubaris spec. “White Ducky” is a fascinating color variant that immediately catches the eye with its flawless, almost shimmering white. This noble appearance gives it a particularly pure and elegant look, which clearly sets it apart from the classic Rubber Duck variants. Despite its light coloration, the typical, charming facial features of the “Ducky” shape are unmistakable – the slightly curved front part, which is reminiscent of a duck’s beak, makes it an unmistakable eye-catcher in the terrarium.
The husbandry conditions are similar to those of other Rubber Duck-variants. A high humidity level of around 75-85% is essential, combined with good air circulation to prevent waterlogging. The terrarium should have both moist zones with moss and foliage and drier retreat areas. A mixture of forest soil, white rotten wood, leaves and cork granules is recommended as a substrate, which also serves as a food source and habitat.
The behavior of White Ducky is rather quiet and reserved, although it quickly gains confidence if there are enough places to hide. Their bright coloration makes them easily visible, so that they can also be observed more frequently during the day – a plus point for enthusiasts who want to see their animals regularly.
The diet shows White Ducky uncomplicated. In addition to the organic materials contained in the substrate, they are happy to accept additional food, such as dried leaves, fresh vegetables, animal proteins and calcium in the form of cuttlebone. A balanced diet not only ensures vitality, but also maintains the clear, radiant coloration.
