Brief description:
Phormingochilus spec. rufus is an arboreal tarantula from Indonesia. Its catchment area is in the middle of the tropics and has a correspondingly tropical climate with high humidity (over 80 %). This species should therefore be kept in a very humid environment. It is important to ensure that there is no waterlogging. This can be achieved with a good aeration area and a high substrate height with a mixture of forest humus and spaghnum moss. The substrate can be covered with moss to create a suitable climate for this beautiful tarantula. The average temperatures in Indonesia vary between 27.7 °C in May and 26.7 °C in December. However, they can also be kept at room temperature. This slightly prolongs the rapid development time of two years.
Phormingochilus spec. rufus like to live in their living web and also like to build substrate and pieces of bark into it. The animals are active at dusk and at night and also consume their food and water at this time of day. Branches and cork bark offered in the terrarium, which are placed diagonally in the terrarium, are often used as a support for their web.
