Brazil nut shell

The shell of the Brazil nut is not chemically treated and is suitable as a food bowl or hiding place. The Brazil nut seeds, which are originally in the shell, are only released after the shell has rotted. Only the aguti is able to crack the shell with its teeth to get at the delicious and nutritious seeds. The Brazilian natives open the capsules mechanically using a saw. The shell is very woody and can also be used as an excellent plant tray for flowers and small cacti.
