Brief description Ornithoctoninae spec. “Ho Chi Minh”:

The distribution area of Ornithoctoninae spec. “Ho Chi Minh” stretches from central Vietnam to the north. Two different local color variants are found in this region. The border lies between the animals found in the north and those from central Vietnam. The difference lies in the basic coloration of the animals, those from central Vietnam have a darker appearance than those from the north. The animals offered here come from central Vietnam. Unfortunately, the name Ho Chi Minh does not give us any more precise information about the origin, but it is a Vietnamese revolutionary and communist politician. What this has to do with the name of a tarantula is not clear to us.

Ornithoctoninae spec. “Ho Chi Minh” lives in the wild under pieces of bark or in burrows. In doing so, it weaves in its living space and additionally stabilizes it. The substrate moisture should not be too wet. It is best to offer it two different moisture zones and place a piece of bark across them. This allows it to choose the most suitable place.

The animals like to assume an attack position and stretch upwards. Nevertheless, they remain relatively calm and do not run away. They are therefore relatively easy to handle.
