Brief description of Avicularia avicularia:

Avicularia avicularia was newly identified and was formerly known as Avicularia blue velvet, Avicularia santa Mission Moonlight and Avicularia spec. Pakuri.

The species has a slender body structure typical of tree-dwelling tarantula species. The basic coloration of both sexes is a bluish shimmering black. Spiderlings also have a black base coloration, but have a red-black fir tree pattern on the abdomen (abdomen).

To ensure that you can experience this development without any negative surprises, there are a few things you should bear in mind when keeping them. The animals need drops of water every two days to absorb water. You should therefore regularly spray some water into a corner of the container. However, care should be taken when doing this, as Avicularia avicularia does not tolerate waterlogging. A container with good air circulation and a substrate that can absorb moisture well is best. We use a mixture of forest humus and spaghnum moss in a ratio of 3:1.

For an adult Avicularia avicularia a terrarium measuring 20 × 30 × 40 cm is recommended. The animals are happy to accept cork tubes placed diagonally in the terrarium to build their home in. They are not picky when it comes to food. They will accept anything that corresponds to their size. However, any leftover food should be removed immediately. Avicularia avicularia is a very peaceful and calm species that is also recommended for beginners.
